HOUSE PASSAGE: H.R. 2655  (Rep. L. Smith) The Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act of 2013 requires mandatory sanctions for attorneys who file frivolous lawsuits.

A FAIR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM THAT WORKS for AMERICA

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 2278  (Rep. Gowdy) The Strengthen and Fortify Enforcement (SAFE) Actstrengthens the interior enforcement by allowing states to enforce our immigration laws.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 1772  (Rep. L. Smith) The Legal Workforce Act requires E-Verify nationwide and helps employers determine who is lawfully here and who can accept employment.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 1773  (Rep. Goodlatte) The Agricultural Guestworker (AG) Act creates a new guestworker program that provides American farmers with access to a reliable, lawful workforce.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 2131  (Rep. Issa) The Supplying Knowledge-based Immigrants and Lifting Levels of STEM (SKILLS) Visa Act allows hardworking, smart immigrants to come to the U.S. so that they can create jobs and make us more competitive in the global economy.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 1123 – (Rep. Goodlatte) The Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act protects consumer choice by allowing consumers to unlock their cell phones without the approval of their wireless provider.

HOUSE PASSAGE: H.R. 3309 – (Rep. Goodlatte) The Innovation Act curbs patent litigation abuses.

SIGNED INTO LAW: H.R. 3190 – (Rep. Chabot) The U.S. Parole Commission Extension Act keeps violent convicted felons off the streets.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 180 – (Rep. Grimm) The National Blue Alert Act of 2013 tracks down those who attack law enforcement officers.

COMMITTEE ACTION: Conducted two hearings (one | two) on the need to update the decades old Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA).

RELIEF from EXCESSIVE REGULATION

HOUSE PASSAGE: H.R. 367 – (Rep. T. Young) The Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act requires congressional approval for any federal regulations that have an impact of $100 million or more before they can go into effect.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 1493 – (Rep. D. Collins) The Sunshine for Regulatory Decrees and Settlements Act of 2013 prevents secret settlementdeals between federal agencies and pro-regulatory plaintiffs that result in new federal regulations for everyone.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 2122 – (Rep. Goodlatte) The Regulatory Accountability Act of 2013 requires federal bureaucrats to adopt the least costly method of implementing a law.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 2542– (Rep. Bachus) The Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act of 2013forces federal bureaucrats to consider the impact on small businesses before they issue new regulations.

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 2641 – (Rep. Marino) The Responsibly and Professionally Invigorating Development Act of 2013 streamlines the federal permitting process so that new construction and energy projects are not tied up in years of regulatory red tape.

THE FREEDOM to PROSPER: PROTECTING AMERICANS’ LIBERTIES

COMMITTEE PASSAGE: H.R. 1944 – (Rep. Sensenbrenner) The Private Property Rights Protection Act of 2013 prohibits state and local governments that receive federal economic development funds from using eminent domain to transfer private property from one private owner to another for the purpose of economic development.

HOUSE PASSAGE: H.R. 1797 – (Rep. Franks) The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act bans abortions with limited exceptions in the U.S. after 20 weeks post fertilization.
