Crime Subcommitte to Hold Hearing on FBI Whistleblowers

(Washington, DC)- Today, the House Judiciary Committee announced that the Crime Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (D-VA), will hold an oversight hearing on Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Whistleblowers TOMORROW, May 21, at 1:30 p.m. to examine allegations by FBI agents and other personnel who have exposed misdeeds, fraud and corruption within the Bureau and suffered retaliation as a consequence. The hearing will be held in room 2141 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Witnesses include two high profile FBI whistleblowers and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Supervisory Special Agent Bassem Youssef is the highest ranking Arab American within the Bureau and heads up a special counterterrorism unit. Former FBI Agent Michael German spent nearly 20 years with the FBI before leaving because of the severe retaliation he suffered after exposing misdeeds within his unit. He is currently a senior policy advisor at the ACLU.
